FREMONT, Calif. and MINNEAPOLIS, May 22, 2006 - Mendocino Software and Ontrack Data Recovery today announced an agreement to integrate Mendocino's RecoveryONE "infinite snapshot engine" technology with Ontrack PowerControls™ mailbox recovery software, one of the industry's leading Microsoft Exchange recovery solutions. This integration will bring Microsoft Exchange data recovery for mission-critical applications to an unprecedented level. The resulting product will be available through Mendocino in Q306 and will give customers two key advantages over existing solutions: the ability to capture data without impacting Exchange environments, and the ability to recover Exchange to any desired previous point much more rapidly than is possible today.
"Our partnership program is a key element in our strategy to offer the best recovery and off-host processing capabilities for the industry's most widely deployed applications," said Steve Colman, Mendocino's president and CEO. "Similar to our recently-announced Sybase relationship, this agreement commits both Mendocino and Ontrack to perform the deep integration necessary to provide far more critical functionality for enterprises than is available when integration is limited to publicly available APIs."
The Ontrack partnership is the fourth joint development deal Mendocino has struck with an enterprise software vendor since they initiated their strategic partnership program in the enterprise application area.
"Ontrack is dedicated to providing the data management industry with the highest-quality software solutions to help companies deliver more effective recovery options for their customers," said Jim Reinert, senior director of Software and Services for Ontrack Data Recovery. "By combining Mendocino's solid technology with Ontrack's simplification of single mailbox restore, we are filling a void that has plagued Exchange Administrators faced with unique restore challenges."
"By any measure email has become a mission critical application and yet recovering objects from Exchange requires a PhD in computer science today. Combining Mendocino's continuous data capture technology with Ontrack's Exchange recovery software will enable systems administrators to satisfy user needs easily and quickly," said Arun Taneja, consulting analyst and founder of The Taneja Group.
A prototype of the new Exchange solution was demonstrated to selected customers and analysts by Mendocino and Ontrack at the recent Storage Decisions show in Chicago. The new product will be available by contacting Mendocino at (877) MENDO SOFT or online at www.mendocinosoft.com.
About Mendocino Software
Mendocino Software develops and markets recovery management solutions like RecoveryONE to enterprises worldwide and is a founding member of the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) CDP Special Interest Group. Recovery management is focused on capturing data transparently from enterprise applications, easily making copies of data available on demand at any previous point in time with zero impact on production applications.
