ADERANT Enhances Practice Management Solution

Atlanta, GA—July 27, 2006–ADERANT, a global provider of business and financial management software for professional services organizations, today announced the immediate availability of ADERANT Expert Back Office, Powered by Javelan Release 4.3. The enhanced version of the practice management system includes new functionality to improve information access, increase employee productivity, and streamline key business processes.
The enhanced version of Expert Back Office includes new functionality for time and billing, client and matter management, conflicts checking, vendor management, and system maintenance.
“Release 4.3 demonstrates our commitment to the continual improvement of Expert Back Office, Powered by Javelan,” said David Weber, Vice President of Products for ADERANT. “We listened closely to our clients and included the key functionality enhancements they requested in this new version of our practice management system.”
Time and Billing
Expert Back Office has been enhanced to improve user visibility into Work-in-Progress as well as reduce data entry errors. The application automatically notifies users about outstanding time and expense entries that exist but are not yet included in the prebill. This notification provides billing coordinators with advance warning before they complete a bill and enables them to include some or all of the outstanding WIP in the bill.
Additionally, Expert Back Office includes new functionality that allows users to automatically spell check any text field, improving the accuracy of time and expense narrative text entries and reducing the need for additional editing throughout the billing cycle.
Client and Matter Management
Release 4.3 also includes new global matter management functionality which allows firms to easily add, edit, and manage client matters. Users can now copy client-based data field values into the equivalent fields for matters. This eliminates the need for professionals to perform maintenance on individual matters.
Conflicts Checking
Expert Back Office now incorporates data from the United States Treasury Department’s list of Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) for use in its conflicts application. The new functionality examines the SDN data when a conflicts check is executed. Additionally, a new report has been created that verifies conflict searches against the SDN data.
Vendor Management
New vendor management functionality has been added to Expert Back Office’s accounts payable application. Expert Back Office now allows users to merge vendors and vendor history, reducing duplicative entries while retaining historical information for review and auditing purposes.
System Maintenance
Expert Back Office’s system maintenance capabilities have been enhanced to improve overall system security. System administrators can now easily introduce and manage password policies. The new functionality allows firms to enforce security policies when a user’s password is changed, such as specifying the number of days to warn users before their passwords expire, that their new password must be different than their previous password, or that their password must have an upper case letter, lower case letter, digit, or special character.
