Over 1,000 Cases Now Included in K&L Gates' E-Discovery Case Database
Electronic Discovery Law, 07/03/08
We are pleased to announce that our searchable case database now contains over 1,000 e-discovery cases from state and federal jurisdictions, with new cases being added every week. Now more than ever, our database is an excellent source of information on developing e-discovery case law around the country.

Remove Hidden Metadata from Word Documents
TechnoEsq, 07/02/08
Unfortunately, metadata has curtailed one of the courtesies attorneys in litigation formerly exhibited through providing discovery requests in an electronic format so that opposing counsel didn’t have to have his assistant re-type your requests when answering discovery.

Is E-Mail Evidence Less Persuasive?
EDD Update, 06/20/08
I suppose it says something about your status in life if you are pleased or appalled to see Wall Street titans with eight-figure incomes taken away in handcuffs and booked. It's a bit like the lawyers in Qualcomm v Broadcom: we can identify with them until the lying starts, and then we no longer see ourselves in their moccasins.

New ProLaw Capabilities Provide Convenience, Timely Information Delivery

Thomson Elite

LOS ANGELES, April 2, 2007 – Thomson Elite continues to add functionality and customer value to ProLaw, the leading fully integrated software to automate the practice and manage the business of law. Thomson Elite is part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and a worldwide provider of business software to professional services firms.

"Our continued investment in new features and integration capabilities lets organizations reap the benefits of running their operations more efficiently, saving time and ensuring accuracy through the automation ProLaw enables," said Matt DeVoll, vice president, Thomson Elite. "Plus, our relationship with Thomson West and Westlaw® allows us to bring even more convenience and functionality to the ProLaw user's desktop, and we've leveraged that with this latest release."

ProLaw now integrates with Westlaw's Docket Tracks, a service that delivers automatic court updates about new docket information, such as pleadings and procedures, for specified cases. Attorneys working on a matter can now track changes in their court cases directly on their ProLaw Dashboard. Full-text dockets from Westlaw can also be saved in matters to share across teams and maintain a complete case file history. Direct links into the docket's Westlaw research content provide valuable information that can be used to develop litigation strategies.

Court subscriptions can be added, updated or canceled from a single screen. Customizable security settings ensure that the right people receive changes to important cases. Using Docket Tracks through ProLaw maximizes cost recovery by streamlining the pass-through of Westlaw charges to the correct client billing.

ProLaw documents can be converted to PDF documents with a single click, without the purchase of additional software. PDFs created, saved or emailed in ProLaw are automatically saved in the relevant matter and logically organized. In addition, ProLaw offers the ability to track an emailed document in a user's case file history.
