December 13, 2006
LOS ANGELES

Thomson Elite will be among select Microsoft partner companies to exhibit at key events surrounding the unveiling of Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and Exchange Server 2007. Thomson Elite is part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and a worldwide provider of business software to professional services firms.

Beginning on Jan. 16, 2007, and continuing through February, Microsoft will visit more than 70 cities across America. These events will provide customers an opportunity to test drive the products and learn how Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and Exchange Server 2007 enable Microsoft’s vision of a "people-ready business."

Thomson Elite will showcase its financial and practice management software offerings, including Elite 3E, the company’s next-generation business optimization suite, during events in five top U.S. cities. The functions, in Boston, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle, are expected to draw approximately 2,000 attendees each.

Thomson Elite is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, the highest level in the Microsoft Partner Program, which provides Thomson Elite access to new technology and the necessary tools, including beta products, prioritized referrals and advanced technical information, to develop products on its platform. Thomson Elite customers benefit from the convenience of deep integration between their financial and practice management systems and popular Microsoft desktop applications such as Microsoft Office.

Elite 3E features capabilities that allow firms to connect 3E to Microsoft Office 2007. For example, users can map Outlook items to 3E objects, such as linking an Outlook appointment to a 3E time entry. Elite 3E also can display 3E report layouts in SharePoint and import 3E data to Excel. Customers can set Smart Tags in any Microsoft Office application to recognize and query 3E data.

Thomson Elite leverages Microsoft platform technologies, including Microsoft .NET Framework, SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk Server. Elite 3E is the only legal business optimization solution in the market built from the ground up on Microsoft .NET. The company also leverages other Microsoft technologies, such as Active Directory, C# and Visual Basic .NET, in its offerings.

"Partners such as Thomson Elite will make significant contributions to the success of this launch, and we value the company’s support," said Brian Zeve, managing director of the Professional Services Industry Group at Microsoft Corp. "Thomson Elite brings an understanding and expertise valuable to our customers. Working together, we may improve our customers’ experience and satisfaction with Thomson Elite and Microsoft products and technologies within the professional services industry."
